Marengo County Residents:
The first library card for residents is free. Residents must have proof of identity and current address to receive a card. Adults may check out up to 10 items with their card.
Children/Teens:
As per Alabama law, the Demopolis Public Library addresses how minors “are safeguarded from sexually explicit material deemed inappropriate for children and youth” by establishing a tiered library card system that limits their ability to check out materials.
- Tier 1: This card allows users to check out materials from the Reader, Easy, Juvenile Fiction, and Juvenile Non-Fiction sections of the library and DVDs on the 2nd floor. No digital access to Libby
- Tier 2: This card allows users to check out material from the Reader, Easy, Juvenile Fiction, Juvenile Non-Fiction, Young Adult Fiction, and Young Adult Non-fiction sections of the Library only and DVDs on the 2nd floor
- Tier 3: This card allows users to check out materials from any section of the Library. No Restrictions
Out of County Residents:
Must pay a five dollar out of county fee for your first library card. Out of County Residents will need to provide proof of identity and current address to recieve a card.
Temporary Residents:
Temporary residents in Marengo County can recieve a library card for a fifteen dollar fee. This fee is refundable when card is returned.
Due Dates:
- Books: 2 weeks
- DVD’s: 3 days
- Audio Books: 2 weeks
- Magazine: 2 weeks
